Time Management Goals

Short-term goals for your home based business should have a time frame of no more than up to three months. Intermediate-term goals take place between three months and one year. And long-term goals are out more than a year. You should have goals in each of these areas for your home based business.

Long-term goals require patience to achieve and a willingness to give up something you want now in return for something better later. This is know as delayed gratification.

Global Mentors International has put together a group of trainers dedicated to ensuring the success of every individual who wants to learn how to establish goals for their home based businesses.

Specific Goals For Your Home Based Business

Pursuing specific goals is the key to reaching success. Setting good goals requires some planning and concentrated effort. Far too many individuals have good intentions for their home based business, but lack goals that are specific enought to help them achieve success in their home based business. Most individuals who fail to reach their professional goals do so because they fail to make specific, or S.M.A.R.T. goals.

S.M.A.R.T. goals are:

Specific. Your goal should be as detailed as possible.

Measurable. Good goals allow you to quantify your efforts.

Achievable. It is good to set your goals high, but not impossibly high.

Result-oriented. In order for your goals to be SMART, they must focus on what you DO want, not what you do NOT want.

Time-limited. Put a specific time limit on your goals and have someone hold you accountable for reaching that goal.

Managing Our Time Effectively

As home based business owners we all struggle with managing our time effectively. I've heard it said that home based business owners are the worst people when it comes to managing their time and priorities. We have to be careful not to confuse being busy with making progress.

Here are a couple ideas I have found to help me manage my time more effectively:

1. Good habits are the key to good time management.
Creating good habits is the base of time management. A good habit to develop is to focus on results. Set goals and strive to reach them. Think to yourself, what specific results would I like to see come from my time?

2. Good habits start with setting goals.
Write your goals down. It will be easier for you to reach your goal if they are written down. Break your goals into three categories: short, intermediate and long term.

Time management is a skill the requires practice. The more you use this skill in your home based business, the easier it will become.

Home Based Business Finances

You'll come into contact with money almost every day in your home based business. Managed poorly, money can be a source of anxiety and lead to financial problems. Used wisely, money can be a tool to help you achieve your goals and dreams in your home based business.

1. Learn the financial planning process - what it is and what it can do for your business.

2. Apply the process through activities you will complete during the day in your business.

3. Take control of your finances.

Managing money and finances is a learned skill. You must develop this skill in order to be successful in your home based business.

Time Management For Your Home Based Business

Time management for your home based Internet business is critical. You must get organized as soon as possible. Once you are organized you will realize how much more work you can get done.

Keep it simple when you are trying to get organized. Use a calendar, a planner type book or even a spreadsheet software program to plan your activities.

Don't get so carried away with your planning activities that you become a time management fanatic. You don't really need to create priority folders and lists or spend a lot of time color coding your tasks. If you do this, you'll find that you are spending more time trying to get organized than actually performing the work.

If you spend a few minutes every day getting organized, you will find that your home based Internet business will be succesful.

The First Day Of Your Home Based Business

Are you one of those people that are always going to do it "tomorrow" or "soon"? As a home based business owner you must make the best of today, it will be the first day of the rest of your life.

Take charge of your life and home based business by taking responsibility for what you want to create. It is time to become clear on the vision you want for yourself and your business. It is time to live up to your potential.

Stop letting things get in the way of what you want to contribute and accomplish. There is no time like the present to start working on your future. Being clear on what "you" want to create is the first step. You, not your boss, not your mother, not your spouse, but you are the only one that can take charge of your life and business. Decide what it is that you really and truly want. Keep your focus on what it is you want and you can accomplish anything.

Home-Based Internet Business

Starting a home-based Internet business is a viable option for individuals who want to earn a residual income while working in the corporate world. The traditional nine to five work force has discovered that a corporate retirement is not the only option when they are planning for their future financial stability.

While starting a home-based Internet business might sound easy, just the opposite can be true. Starting and operating a business, whether it is Internet based or a more traditional brick and mortar type requires a working knowledge of business basics and creative marketing techniques.

Training for home business owners on these techniques can be expensive, if the courses are even available. Global Mentors International, founded in 2006 by Mr. David Barnard, offers Internet marketing training to the home-based business owner. Mr. Barnard realized the need for online training specially targeted at Internet marketers and developed a training curriculum that feels that need.

The trainers for Global Mentors International are experts in their fields. The training courses that have been developed to assist the home-based Internet business owner in succeeding are considered world class. This exceptional training is provided at no cost to all of Global Mentors International members.

Home Based Business Office Hours

When you first start a home based Internet business, you will want to establish office hours. Tell you family, friends and business associates your office hours. Let everybody know you are working during those hours and you should only be disturbed if there is an emergency.

Keep your office door closed during your work hours and if you have to, hang a do not disturb sign on the outside.

Let everybody know that starting a home based Internet business is not an invitation to spend hours in aimless conversations. Make a decision about the conversation and then end the discussion.

Unfortunately, your family and friends will cause the most interruptions for you while you are working at home. Be firm about your business hours and then stick to them.

Home Based Business Time Waster

Procrastination is probably the biggest time waster in a home based business. When you put off completing a project or task today you have robbed yourself of time and caused unnecessary stress when you have run out of time to complete the project. Start each work day with the most unpleasant task first. Visualize and focus on the desired outcome of the project and list small daily assignments that you can get completed.

You don't have to complete the entire project in one day, just work on it daily and before you know it the project will be completed. Set deadlines to reach the desired outcome of your project. Also set consequences of not doing the project. This will help you stay focused and motivated.

Schedule your tasks and then follow the schedule. This will help you keep your home based business on track. Once you have completed your project, you will feel great and want to accomplish other tasks.
